The Muhtadi International Drumming Festival (MIDF) is a not-for-profit organization that hosts a three-day annual event held in Toronto on the first weekend in June. The festival celebrates the drum, its universality as an art form,  and its presence in all cultures around the world.

Beginning with a gala opening on the first day of the celebration, and then taking place outdoors at Queen’s Park North, MIDF takes a journey around the world, featuring over 30 drumming groups that display the diverse cultural traditions and drumming styles from many  countries.

Adding to the experience, MIDF hosts a wide variety of vendors with an array of cultural garbs, jewelry, and ethnic foods. Our celebration of multiculturalism culminates on the two large stages, where all cultures come together, drumming and dancing to one beat!

In earlier years, MIDF attracted over 20,000 attendees. In 2006, this family event was invited by Luminato to be the opening festival that kicked off the first annual Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity. We also have long-standing support from our corporate sponsors and funding partners.

We welcome you to be a part of this event – the only annual festival in North America celebrating the drum!
